Under a clear blue sky......

....we went in search of some crafty goodness at the start of our little local Arts Festival, now in its 4th year and going from strength-to-strength as each year passes. There really are some talented folks around and it was great to be able to see all of it practically right here on my doorstep.....
...so we started with a genteel stroll around a lovely exhibition in the Church Hall which included some fine work such as.....
this handpainted and handstitched on linen piece entitled 'An Heir at Last', obviously referring to the fact they started off with 6 girls! The workmanship was jaw-dropping when viewed up close and personal......

......and also by the same Lady, a couple of patriotic cushion covers.......

....and this was one of my favourites, also by the same artist, entitled 'The Letter' featuring an original billet doux sewed on to a beautiful piece of antique lace....

......sorry about the reflection of the rooflights in this pic but I couldn't resist admiring this pretty piece of vintage lace attached to a piece of modern tartan complete with freestyle embroidery....
.... followed by a look around the Church whose roof was beautifully painted by commission of some members of the local gentry as a memorial to the many local fishermen who lost their lives at sea......
....this pic was taken from the balcony but I couldn't sit in the front row because my knees went all wobbly so I safely positioned myself in the back pew! What a wimp, eh? Nice view though...

.....an original gas lamp in the stairwell to the belltower..

...and the most amazing vintage curtains, featuring fishing boats, on the stage in the Church Hall...aren't they fab?
....and my last favourite of the day, a little clay group of Fisherwomen and their children, dressed in vintage linen and lace.....adorable.

....and the sky was still blue when we left and went on to the next exhibition which I'll leave until tomorrow. I'm totally aware that some of you may well be snoozing at this juncture!!!

As an aside, I've recently become a follower of a wonderful crafty blog whose author's recent post about blogging gave me some food for thought. I found myself agreeing with most of what she had to say. Have a look
here and see what you think. Annie also offers some really lovely free patterns. Her latest for the Teeny Tiny Baby Bootees are totally irresistable!

I hope you're all enjoying the good weather - it makes such a difference to even the most mundane of days, don't you think? Wish it could last forever....well, I suppose it could if I moved to somewhere like Australasia but I'm not so it won't! Enjoy
