Autumn-ising........

........One and All and boy, am I glad it's the weekend!
Nerines (or Jersey Lillies as they're sometimes known as) must be my favourite Autumnal bloom. They're so beautifully sculpted, a little bit exotic, very pink! What's not to love?(I need to think about changing my wallpaper, it's become so bland and boring!).

As well as the hard graft which is required of me at my place of work, I get to do 'enjoyably good' stuff too, like harvesting the fruit when it's ready,  so right now, it's pear and apple-picking time. So off I go to the orchard to fill up my basket with fruit-a-plenty then bring it into the kitchen to stew copious amounts for storing in the freezer for using over wintertime. Have you ever used one of these peelers? You can buy them from Lakeland and they make much lighter work of peeling all that fruit! Then I add the skinned fruit to the pan, which has had a little butter melted in the bottom, alongwith some fruit juice, usually apple or orange and just enough to come about quarter way up the pan, throw in some cinnamon and a couple of teaspons of vanilla, essence or extract, whatever you have to hand and then simmer until the fruit is soft but NEVER,EVER mushy!

Curlesque Pears!
Meanwhile, my furry friends wait patiently at my feet for their morning walk!

He's very good at that 'please hurry up' look!

Then, when, at last, it's time to be set free go home, off to the library we jaunt and look what caught my eye. PomPom, I immediately thought of you when I saw this.

How cute is that tiny piano?!
At long last, Emma gets her man!
I liked the look of this craft book, that's not to say I actually MAKE anything from the endless lovely books which catch my eye but I do love looking at the pretty pictures of what I COULD be making!

And this pattern will come in handy for any other fingerless mitts deemed necessary for gift-giving.

Monster Hats from another crafty book.

My latest crafting effort involves miles and miles of garter stitch which should evolve into a cowl eventually. Pattern is Veera Valimaki's Simple Sprinkle, available on Ravelry.

Enjoying an audio-book, appropriately titled....

Have you been 'Autumn-ising'?
Would love to hear all about it.

 Thank you for visiting.
Have a great weekend.

  2. Hello Anne ... love the Nerines. They flower in winter in my part of the world. Love the pear peeler - certainly looks like it would make life easier. The knitting book looks great. I have had The Crafty Minx out from my local library not long ago.

  4. It is too hot and humid here for Autumn. I have decorated for Halloween just so we know it is October. As for that wallpaper I love it, it is a perfect background. not too busy. I have the book with Pride and Prejudice, I love it and think I should make my own Darcy, he is the perfect man.

  5. i think your wallpaper is subtle and beautiful. There will be no autumnising here, we are going into summer. I'm expecting it to be even longer and hotter than last year.
